Depression Support
Depression is a common psychological disorder and almost anyone can become depressed at some point in their life. Depression can range from just feeling in low spirits to being life-threatening. If your “low mood” interferes with your life or is ever present then it could be a sign that you are depressed.
Often, there isn’t one single cause for becoming depressed and usually it is the result of a combination of factors. This can include your past experiences which do have an effect on how you may feel about yourself in the present. If those feelings are very negative, then this can be the start of a downward spiral.
In many cases, the first time someone becomes depressed, it has been triggered by a traumatic life event, such as being made redundant, breaking up with a partner, etc. People who are depressed exhibit changes to the chemical messengers (neurotransmitters) in the brain. Often the causes of depression are emotional, yet different people will respond to similar situations in very different ways.
Depression can obscure rational, realistic thinking, making everything in life appear awful, all the time. The Peterson Practice Clinical Hypnotherapy techniques can help you replace negative thinking with more useful patterns.
Hypnotherapy works with both the conscious and the unconscious mind and helps you to focus on the preferred future rather than the past. When combined with CBT and Solution Focused Therapy it is possible to create new patterns that will give you the strength and freedom in order to work towards the future you desire.
